Even if you or your clients aren't subject to EU laws, the EU AI Act is worth reading and understanding as at least one framework for attempting to support and control the use and growth of AI technologies.  Short of jumping into the full text of the Act, this summary provides a good basic review of the law.  As other jurisdictions try to tackle the same issue, it will be interesting and valuable to consider how they approach the problem from the same and/or different directions.
